The Orthesis consists of:
- An EXTERNAL STRUCTURE, made of very hard and light metal alloy and some parts
of plastic material suitable for the contact with the human body, divided into
3 parts (corset-orthesis of the right leg-corset of the left leg). The subdivision
into 3 parts of the External Structure was adopted to enable the PARAPLEGIC
to wear the Orthesis IN A TOTALLY INDEPENDENT WAY.
- A WALKER for support and control of walking which contains all the components necessary for the function of FERRATI ELECTRONIC ORTHESIS WITHOUT ELECTROSTIMULATION.
THE FUNCTION
The patient will wear the external structure, directly from the wheelchair, in a totally independent way and in very few minutes. The ORTHESIS is immediately ready for the use and will take him/her in a standing position and ready for walking.
The orthesis is connected to the hips and knees of the patient through electronic actuators. The movement of these actuators, obtained in a harmonic
and natural way from the electronic apparatuses, enables the walking of the
paralyzed limbs thus creating again the human walk in all its steps.These movements
are totally under the control of the patient who could establish, at each step,
the speed of motion, to stop or restart.
